Abuyog, Sorsogon City | July 15, 2025 — In line with its founding anniversary celebration, Abuyog National High School conducted a Gender and Development (GAD)-themed activity with the goal of deepening awareness and shared responsibility in promoting gender equality and women empowerment. Themed “Teachers and Stakeholders Sharing Responsibility in Promoting Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Through Social Augmentation,” the event was spearheaded by School Principal Domingo G. Bobier, Jr. and actively engaged faculty members and student leaders.

A key highlight of the program was the technical session facilitated by Mr. George D. Paguio, Division GAD Focal Person of DepEd Sorsogon City, who was invited as a guest speaker. In his talk titled “Teachers and Other Stakeholders’ Responsibilities in Promoting Gender Equality,” Mr. Paguio provided client-focused technical assistance, drawing from national GAD frameworks and school-based application strategies.

His session emphasized the pivotal roles that teachers and stakeholders play in fostering inclusive, gender-sensitive learning environments. The discussion offered actionable recommendations aimed at helping the school begin crafting a revitalized and contextualized GAD policy, aligned with the DepEd’s advocacy for gender mainstreaming at the grassroots level.

Through this technical input, the school community was able to reflect on its current practices and recognize the need for institutional commitment to gender responsiveness — a step forward in ensuring that the school’s policies and programs become more inclusive and equitable for all learners.

Principal Domingo G. Bobier, Jr. affirmed the significance of the activity not only as part of their anniversary celebration but also as a capacity-building opportunity that strengthens the school’s direction in gender and development work.

This collaboration exemplifies how school-based initiatives, when supported by responsive technical assistance from the Division Office, can lead to meaningful institutional development—especially in the advancement of inclusive education.
