In line with its commitment to promote inclusive governance and gender equality, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Sorsogon City successfully conducted an orientation on Gender and Development (GAD) audit and a team building activity at Recidencial del Hamor Full View in Sawanga, Sorsogon City.

The morning session opened with a warm welcome message from Elena D. Hubilla, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division, followed by an inspirational message from Officer-in-Charge Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Angelou B. Pura.

Legal experts and advocates for gender-responsive governance led a series of key presentations. Atty. Rhea J. Olayres, Attorney III, discussed the Legality and Audit of the DepEd Sorsogon City GAD Focal Point System, highlighting the importance of institutional compliance and transparency. Atty. Ma. Flor De Lis G. Domasian, Clerk of Court VI of RTC Branch 54, emphasized Fostering a Gender-Responsive School Culture, urging educators to move beyond policy into meaningful practice. Atty. Melissa Danao-Alisangco closed the morning with a presentation on Maximizing Impact: Responsible Planning and Execution of the GAD Budget for Transformative Change, focusing on the strategic use of resources to advance gender equity.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in dynamic team building activities aimed at strengthening camaraderie and collaboration among educators and staff. This was followed by a heartfelt honoring of retirees, recognizing their years of dedicated service. The event concluded with a surprise birthday greeting for Schools Division Superintendent William Gando, adding a joyful and personal touch to the day’s meaningful engagements.

The successful activity was made possible through the initiative of George D. Paguio, GAD Focal Person of SDO Sorsogon City with the assistance of the personnel of the Records section.
