The Sorsogon City Division Women’s Volleyball Team has once again carved its name in regional sports history after clinching its fifth consecutive championship title in the prestigious Regional Bakbakan Cup-Season 5. Today, November 22, 2025, the final whistle marked not only the end of a hard-fought tournament but the continuation of a proud dynasty built on discipline, chemistry, and unwavering determination. What began as a dream five years ago has matured into a legacy—one shaped by the team’s relentless pursuit of excellence. Through challenges, tough opponents, and pressure to maintain their throne, the Sorsogon City spikers proved that greatness is sustained through hard work and unity. Leading the team’s steady rise is the full support of the Schools Division Office of Sorsogon City, under the inspiring leadership of SDS William E. Gando, whose commitment to sports development continues to uplift young athletes and strengthen competitive programs across the division. His encouragement and belief in the team have been instrumental to this remarkable achievement.

Guiding the athletes on the court is the seasoned and highly respected Coach Juan Esperida, whose expertise, discipline-driven training, and tactical mastery shaped the team’s identity as a powerhouse in women’s volleyball. His leadership has been pivotal for the team’s consistent dominance. Standing by his side is Assistant Coach Shirley E. Legaspi, whose dedication and hands-on support have helped refine the skills, confidence, and synergy of every player. This year’s championship run was powered by a roster of determined and resilient women who played with heart and pride. The team was anchored by Captain Ball Teacher Sheryl D. Rosales (Sugod ES) whose leadership kept the players grounded and focused throughout the tournament. Alongside her were standout teacher-athletes Mayreen Janer (SNHS), Clarissa Labalan (SPES), Frances Valdez (Guinlajon ES), Francia Desulo (Panlayaan NHS), and Eljane Hamor (San Lorenzo IS),Ella Mae Rosas (Barayong ES), Melody Deramas (BECS), Kacy Mendizabal (SNHS), Edesa Jarabejo (SNHS), Charmaine Bautista (San Isidro NHS), Margarita Talavera (SNHS), Rosemarie Silvano (Rizal INS) and Gigi Dechavez (Rizal INS) each bringing exceptional strength, athleticism, and teamwork to the court. Their combined talent and chemistry created an unstoppable force that opponents struggled to contain.

From breathtaking rallies to decisive match points, the Sorsogon City representatives showcased not only skill but also the true spirit of sportsmanship. Their unity—on and off the court—became their greatest weapon, turning challenges into stepping stones and pressure into purpose. As the team lifted the championship beacon once more, the significance of this victory resonated deeply.
